History

  • Family heirloom originating from Germany.
  • The seed was first brought over to North America by Ruby Arnold, who received it from her grandfather, a German immigrant. Ruby Arnold called the variety 'German Green', but Bill Minkey of Darien, Wisconsin, USA as Arnold to rename the seed in her honour and she agreed. The seed was shared with several people, and then finally first introduced to the SSE members catalogue in 1993.
