I acquired this seed from Plant Gene Resources Canada, and the only history available says it was donated in 1984 to them from a grower in Ontario.
This is a really interesting variety – huge sprawling plants that require really good staking or caging, they don’t like to be kept in direct sun in high heat. The red coloured fruit is all over the map, and heavily pleated ranging in size quite a bit from smaller salad-sized tomatoes to smaller sized beefstakes – but they average as a whole in the 55g range. No cracking or splitting at all, even with uneven watering. Grew quite well earlier in the season when it was cooler and wetter, so I think this would be an awesome variety for a wetter climate. Really interesting variety with good flavour, I’m looking forward to growing it again and comparing my growth notes.
